First stop: Lincraft, I needed material and a zip. I picked brown tablecloth material (the word 'durability' popped into my mind at that point and explains the tablecloth - the colour brown was because I didn't want to be a show-off....) Of course, the brown tablecloth that I wanted was hiding under a table, and appeared to have been hiding there for quite some time. So long, in fact, that when it came to cutting the material, the lady behind the counter and I discovered that it was full of dead cockroaches! (A discovery that quickly and decisively put an end to Lincraft Lady's mad laughter at my apparently silly pencil case dream)
Don't buy tablecloths from Lincraft.
Second (and I suppose, er, final) Stop: Home, to cut out a design and stitch it all together. Now, this may seem a simple step, but let me tell you, it took up the best part of my afternoon. There was a lot of drawing, cutting, pinning, stitching and inadvertant piercing; but in the end it all worked out, rather, awesomely fantastic! It actually went really well, I am very pleased with the results and even surprised myself at the quality! Who knows, I may just set up my own pencil case business later in the year....

I have got to say, that is a very impressive pencil case. My uni buddies would be green with envy.
